Marta Nation: Marta holds off Brengle in Birmingham first round

Marta won her first round match over Madison Brengle, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the first round in Birmingham.

Marta started off sluggish. She fell down three times in the first set and didn't seem comfortable on the grass.

She was broken in the ninth game to lose the first set. The second set started out as more of the same. They traded service breaks for the first three games and Marta trailed 3-1.

Finally, she started to play a little bit better and broke in the sixth game and then again at love in the 12th game for the set.

Marta looked much better in the third set and she broke in the sixth game and held on for the win.

Marta had four aces, 5 DF's. First serve percentage was 58, but it felt much lower than that most of the match. She was 4 for 7 on break points.

Marta has Dasha Kasatkina next, which will be tough. Marta does own a 2-0 head-to-head against Dasha. Let's do this Marta! You got this!
