Marta Nation: Marta wins in first round at Wimbledon

Marta beat Kiki Bertens 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the second round of Wimbledon!

Marta was great, her serve wasn't broken all match. She toughed out a close second set. At 4-4, Marta was down 40-15 on Bertens' serve, she came back and broke in the game and then held in the next game to finish it off.

I'm very proud of her. It was a big win. She will play either Sevastova or Diyas in the next round. They will be playing Wednesday. So they will have to play back-to-back days, which hopefully helps Marta.

I think Marta can win that and maybe make it to the fourth round.

This could be a great opportunity for Marta, and I think she's starting to play well on grass. We'll see how it goes, what's most important is she is healthy and I think she's getting better with each match.

Let's keep it going! You got this Marta!

TKJ's picks: Angie will win fourth slam, 2nd Wimbledon!

My picks for Wimbledon's women's draw are as much of a mess as the French Open was on the women's side. But that's just the new normal for the WTA! And I'm all here for it.

I've got Angie winning her 4th slam and second Wimbledon! This time she will beat Petra (in a rematch of their match a few days ago) in the finals.

I have Vika ending the Barty Party (yes, I unfortunately have Barty beating Marta in the fourth round) in the quarterfinals. I have Angie beating Muchova in the other quarter.

I know, Angie never beats Vika, but this time she will in the semifinals!

I have Petra beating Slash in another quarterfinal. Slash has such an easy draw. Then I have Jabeur beating Rybakina in another quarterfinal. Petra will then beat Jabeur in the semis.

I expect Angie to win in 3 over Petra, in what will be a high-quality final!

TKJ's picks: Nole will easily win 20th slam, 6th Wimbledon!

Well, this is easy.

I'm picking Nole to win his 20th slam and 6th Wimbledon title. The only person that could stand in Novak's way is Novak.

I have him beating Medvedev in the final. Didn't people say Medvedev couldn't play on clay? Then he had a solid French Open. Then they said he couldn't play on grass and he won a grass-court title this week.

I have Nole beating Rublev in the quarters, Opelka beating Demin (sorry Katie) in the quarters. With Nole then taking down Opelka in the semis. I can't believe I'm picking Opelka in the semis (Is this the women's draw?).

I have Berrettini beating Sascha in the quarters and Medvedev beating Fed in the other quarter.

Medvedev will then knock off Berrettini in the semis and Nole will win the final in 4 sets.

Then we will have three players with 20 slams each! Nole will win No. 21 at the U.S. Open to become the new GOAT and win the Grand Slam (Golden Grand Slam with an Olympic Gold Medal).

It's time for everyone to face the facts that Nole is simply the best of all-time and he's got plenty left in the tank!

TKJ's thoughts: Angie wins 13th title in Bad Homburg, ready for Wimbledon

Angie won title No. 13! She wins in her home country, in Bad Homburg.

She beat Siniakova 6-3, 6-2 in the final. She had three great matches in two days and is now ready to go win Wimbledon!

Let's go Angie!

It's her first tour title in two years, also on grass. Her game is perfectly suited for grass and there's no reason she can't go and win this slam.

No matter what, she had a great week in Bad Homburg beat Amanda in the quarters and Petra in the semis in the same day, both in 3 tough sets.

It's just great to see Angie playing some great tennis again and hopefully end her career with another slam or two.

Here's some pictures of her last three wins:

D.Y. Nation: Dirty Dayana no more, D.Y. Is back and ready to return to WTA Tour

Dirty Dayana is back! OK, so I have called her Dirty Dayana for many years, because I love the song

Dirty Diana by Michael Jackson. I'm sure others will now think I'm saying that Dayana cheated, which she has now been cleared of. That is not why I call her that.

So I will now just call her D.Y. But I really love Dirty Dayana.

The main thing is she's back. It sucks she can't play singles at Wimbledon, but she will be back on the tour soon after being vindicated of any wrong doing in her doping case.

D.Y. is missed on the tour, if nothing else to spice things up and cause drama, which is honestly one of the main reasons I love the game.

We can never forget this video:

Or even this one:

Wow!

She brings it in a lot of ways and I look forward to seeing her play again.

Let's do this D.Y.!

Marta Nation: Marta falls to Sevastova, but is ready for Wimbledon

Marta suffered a tough loss to Sevastova, 6-1, 6-7 (6), 6-4 in the first round in Eastbourne.

Marta fought hard, but couldn't do enough to win. She still played well and had some amazing shots.

Marta just needs to keep going strong and good things will come. She is still officially in doubles with E., future Olympic Gold Medalists? We'll see what happens there.

I think Marta has played enough on grass this season and is ready for Wimbledon.

Let's go Marta!

Marta Nation: Marta has big opportunity in Eastbourne

 Marta has qualified at Eastbourne!

She has an OK draw as well. She will play Sevastova on Monday in the first round. A win there and she will play either Mertens or CoCo! I want to see a Marta-CoCo match so bad! The first of many.

She's playing well all in all. We have to remember that she's not used to playing on grass and every match she plays she will gain more experience and get better.

Marta had a great win over Zhang on Sunday, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.

I love that 6-0 set over a good grass-court player! She had 5 aces, served at 64 percent first serves. She was 7 of 10 on BP's while Zhang was only 4 of 13. Story of the match.

Let's go Marta! She can go far in the tournament and take some real momentum into Wimbledon. No matter what I love the fact that she's playing a lot and getting more and more experience.

Here's some pictures of Marta from her qualifying matches:

TKJ's picks: Marta will win first rounder in Eastbourne over Sevastova

TKJ's picks: Coco will win third title with win in Eastbourne

It's about to be a big week leading up to Wimbledon and going big and (homerish) on my picks. Coco Gauff will win her third title!

In the finals it will be Medvedev over Khachanov. Book it!

For the women - in Bad Homburg I've got Angie beating Petra in the semis. I've also got Cornet beating Pegula. Did you see how great Cornet was in Berlin this week?

In the finals it will be Angie beating Cornet. Book it!

I saved the best for last. Here's what will happen for the women in Eastbourne.

Marta Nation: Marta in pictures: Marta falls to Dasha in Birmingham

A tough loss for Marta today, but I'm so proud of her fight.

She was down 3-0 and 5-2 in the second and came back only to lose 6-2, 7-5, to Dasha. Marta had some amazing shots, but was too inconsistent. She will learn from this.

Keep going Marta, big things ahead.

Here's some pictures from the match.
